Peter and the Wolf - Basil Rathbone - from Shellac to Reel 1941

A recording of the classic Prokofiev orchestrated children's tale from 1941. Basil Rathbone is the narrator and Leopold Stokowski conducts the All-American Orchestra. Reynolds Marchant transferred this from the original Columbia Masterworks Shellac 78 RPM record to reel to reel sometime in the 50s given the type of tape used (Scotch 175). However, this could have been a transfer from an earlier reel.

The recording on reel was quite noisy with a lot of crackle - likely an artifact from the shellac record, and not from the reel. I used ‪@AconDigital‬'s tools to clean up the clicks and pops but not too much as it started to lose some character. I boosted some mid highs after processing and increased gain.
