SPARKLING 1950 Mahler’s 1st Symphony - Bruno Walter NY Philharmonic

Описание к видео SPARKLING 1950 Mahler’s 1st Symphony - Bruno Walter NY Philharmonic

An absolutely crystal clear recording of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major. NY Philharmonic conducted by the great Bruno Walter on February 12th, 1950. From my research this is the earlier recorded performance of this symphony with Walter and the NY Philharmonic.

This was recorded live off the radio onto reel to reel by Reynolds Marchant. As with many of these long performances there was not long enough tape at that time for a single continuous recording. So it’s broken up in the middle of the third movement. I tried to make it as smooth as possible.

Here is the program from the performance - I hope I can find a recording of the Haydn and Mendelssohn too!
