This video will give you some more insight on what your options are if your Honda Civic Hybrid battery is bad. These options can be used with any Hybrid vehicle, just make sure you get the matching part.

Options to replace/recondition your Honda Hybrid Battery:

1. Go to a local junk yard and remove the hybrid battery yourself. This will cost you around $300 (that’s what I have been charged here in Utah) plus you will have to give them your old battery unless you want to pay the core charge (I would just keep the old battery). The warranty won’t be great and you have no idea how to tell if the battery is good or not. I would get one from a wrecked car, if you can’t see any damage to the vehicle, it’s very possible that it is in the junk yard because the hybrid battery was bad.

2. Go to https://www.car-part.com and find a used battery. You can get some good deals on here. I have only ever gotten one on here for about $600 but it worked great. Just make sure you get a good warranty and ask the salesman how long it’s been sitting, and if it was test driven before being pulled.

3. Go to https://ebay.us/r3Il1B and search for a hybrid battery. Again this is hit or miss but I have found some good deals on here. I got a $300 used hybrid battery shipped to my door that worked great.

4. Go to https://bumblebeebatteries.com/ and buy a remanufactured battery from them. This will run you $1700 plus whatever extra you want to pay to get a better warranty. I would do this if you have zero experience with cars and want to keep your vehicle for many years.

5. Get a grid charger from https://ebay.us/Qu4nrr this will cost you about $300 but you can use this for multiple vehicles. You can also let a friend borrow it or rent it out or even sell it when you are done with the vehicle and recoup the cost. I have used this on three vehicles and all three were fixed with a bi yearly charge.

6. Buy a brand new one from a dealership. It is going to cost you about $3000.00 out the door, and if you want to have them install it, its going to cost an additional $400. They are brand spanking new, but warranty won’t be great and it is going to, most likely, cost more than what your vehicle is worth.

7. Build your own grid charger. This is a very inexpensive way to fix your vehicle but most people won’t be able to figure out how to do it.

8. Take your battery apart and charge each stick individually and test which sticks have limited capacity. This is the best and most inexpensive way to fix your hybrid vehicle battery but it can take a long time and you will need to know what your doing. I recommend this if you are messing with a lot of hybrid batteries.

Option 9, bypass hybrid battery (not shown)
