Restoring C3 Corvette DOOR HINGES

Описание к видео Restoring C3 Corvette DOOR HINGES

In this video, I show you how to remove the upper and lower hinges, how to disassemble them, and after a thorough cleaning and a fresh coat of primer, how to install new bushings, put the hinges back together with new pins, and how to reinstall the "S" spring.

It seems we always expect door hinges to work properly, but C3 Corvette doors are very heavy, so the hinges have a tough job that, in most cases, they've been doing for over 40 years.

The first sign you may notice is that they start making noise, and it's all downhill from there if you don't show them a little TLC every once in a while.

Something as simple as a penetrating fluid will work wonders when used as a preventive measure. Once things break or stop working, it's too late for that, and the only viable solution is to remove them for a complete overhaul.

Once the hinges are out of the vehicle, you want to disassemble and properly clean them. After that's done, you want to protect the metal and that means a couple coats of primer.

Then, new bushings and pins are mandatory, as are new hinge springs.

When everything is installed, several coats of body-color-matching paint will make them look new again.

Thank you for watching! 🙂👍🏻
