Jamaican Bammy Flatbread Reciepe - Nomadic Vegan

Enjoy this plain cassava flatbread, a food that comes from Jamaica's original inhabitants. Perfect for any meal or served as a snack, with only two ingredients at its most basic state and already vegan.

Plain cassava flatbread

Ingredients:
Fresh Cassava or frozen grated cassava
Salt

Cooking steps:

1. Chop and peal the fresh cassava
2. Remove the fibrous stem from the centre of the cassava pieces
3. Grate the cassava (if you're using frozen cassava, let it thaw overnight)
4. Thouroughly strain the grated cassava
5. Crumble the cassava with your hands making sure there are no big chunks
6. Add salt and mix well
7. Preheat your pan over medium-high heat
8. Add the grated cassava until you have a 1cm or a bit less than 1/2 inch bammy and press with a spoon
9. When the bottom is golden flip carefully. Make sure the top doesn't dry before flipping it
10. Repeat until you run out of cassava
