18th century Royal Galley 1:600 Scratchbuilding for wargaming

Описание к видео 18th century Royal Galley 1:600 Scratchbuilding for wargaming

This video is a scratchbuilding of a Royal Galley from the late 17th and first half of the 18th century.

It is so long because the galley needs a lot of parts... and I think I have included almost all of them because I wanted to show as many of them as possible although you don't have to go that far to have an acceptable miniature to play wargames. It takes a lot of steps, but none of them are particularly difficult and some things are done quite quickly. It took me a week and a half to build and paint this galley, which must be about 10 or 12 hours of actual work.

It can be simplified quite a bit, especially if you want to make an ordinary galley. For example, you don't need to include as many oars or as many oarsmen per bench, visually fewer is enough as you can see in the ordinary galley at the beginning of the video. You can also simplify the construction of the corulla and the carroza and even though the folded sails are the right thing to do in combat, and even without sails nor mainmast, getting them unfurled is quicker. Nor is it necessary to follow the measurements so strictly; in fact, I think the miniature would have looked much better if the carroza had been longer.

Not difficult to find on the Internet. If you are looking for it in your city, try the shops specialised in industrial plastics. It is also used by graphic designers for temporary signage.
