This curious ship is a late 15th century Ottoman Göke, the flagship of Kemal Reis. I have made a rather free interpretation using as a base a 1:600 Skytrex Spanish Galleon, the San Salvador.

This link is about the Revell model conversion: http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/m...

Although the real San Salvador was smaller, I have found no references to any other San Salvador than the galleon that explored the American West Coast in 1542 and does not look so much like the one Skytrex presents: https://sdmaritime.org/visit/the-ship... there were 12 of these large galleons with towers on the gunwales and oars as presented by Revell in the Spanish Armada: https://blog.todoavante.es/?p=11702 https://www.pinterest.de/pin/78615967... although they bore the names of the apostles, and for practical reasons their oars could never be used, the variations in construction that involved making space on the deck for them and eliminating the pitching so that water would not enter through their openings greatly improved their capacity and seaworthiness, and thus influenced the designs of later galleons.

It seems that the Turks solved the problem with another approach, adding to the sides "bacalares" for the oars as the galleys used, and was its flagship. The drawings I use as a guide I think they belong to Kâtip Çelebi: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%A2... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kemal_Reis
