Friends, today in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about Dartchery.
Dartchery is a combination of two sports, Darts and archery.
In dartchery athletes use bows and arrows typically used for archery, but the target used is a dartboard.
The game was initially part of the Summer Paralympics but later in 1980, it was discontinued.
The objective of the game is to end the game with an exact zero score.
Dartchery is a game capable of being played individually and in teams.
All the teams or individual players are required to stand at a 20-yard mark and shoot their target from there.
In each team, each player or team gets to shoot three arrows.
The game of dartchery follows a similar scoring format to that of darts, where players start from 301 points and reduce their points with each shot.
Every participant is awarded points for each shot depending on where it falls within the target circle.
The objective for each player is to end the game with their score equal to zero.
If the score falls below zero in a turn, the score is reverted back and the player has to continue taking turns until perfect zero is achieved.
The player to first reach zero is declared as the winner of the match.
