Famous World War II stories like the liberation of Dachau, The Lost Battalion, and The alliance at Castle Itter are immortalized through the 36th. Throughout their combat experience, the 36th Infantry Division played a crucial role in bringing down the German war machine in nearly a dozen battles and campaigns for over three years of World War II.
