Welcome to our journey that combines the enchanting beauty of Japan's winter landscapes with its rich cultural heritage and modern marvels. Over the next 14 days, we will experience the magic of Japan in winter, visiting places from the bustling streets of Tokyo to the serene Rissyakuji Temple (Yamadera) and Hagurosan Gojunoto (Five Story Pagoda), the beautiful snow-covered peak of Mount Fuji and Mount Zao, the tranquil hot springs in Ginzan Onsen, and the extensive collection of jellyfish in Kamo Aquarium.

Rissyakuji Temple (Yamadera), a scenic mountain temple complex in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan, is renowned for several unique features. The temple has been a center of spiritual practice for centuries and continues to attract pilgrims and tourists alike. The temple complex is built on a steep mountainside, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and mountains. The climb up to the temple involves ascending over 1,000 stone steps, which are lined with ancient statues and small shrines.

Today (this video):
- Rissyakuji Temple (Yamadera): we climbed 1,015 steps up the snow covered mountain to enjoy this ancient temple
- Godaidō (Godaido Hall): best observation deck of the valley overlooking the small town covered in white snow
- Nokyodo: an ancient temple built in the sky and set against the clouds
- Fumotoya Soba noodles: extra large serving of soba noodles to replenish our energy and top it up with chicken and squid tempura
- Gotenzeki: a shopping street set in Yamagata city with a rich history dating back to Edo Period
- Yamagata beef: Yamagata is the top 6 producer of wagyu in Japan and this marbled ribs simply melts in the mouth
- Night view of Yamagata city: a hidden observation deck at Kajo Central of the city known only to the locals. Enjoy this beautiful night view on our last day
