England take a huge step towards qualifying for Euro 88 by winning a home qualifier 2-0 against Yugoslavia in November 1986. Without key men Bryan Robson and Peter Shilton, England have to withstand a fair bit of pressure against a decent Yugoslavia side who miss a series of good chances. Gary Mabbutt returns to the England fold and opens the scoring, before Viv Anderson wraps it up. England will go on to reach the finals without losing any qualifying games.
