Altec 417-8+ Full Service Upgrade Recone...Upland Loudspeaker Service

This Altec 417 was reconed decades ago, and never used. It had multiple issues. One of the issues was the change of the cone by Altec back in the 1990's to the heavier 917 cone. The high end response was killed with this change. Another issue was the voice coil was rubbing from being out of round, and the pole piece was misaligned resulting is a non-concentric magnetic gap...and the AlNiCo magnet had lost some of it's charge.

The upgrade is a lighter curvilinear cone which results in a lower moving mass, increased sensitivity, and extended high frequency response like originally designed. This new cone makes this 417 sound a bit like a cross between an EVM12S and a JBL K120.
