Описание к видео Why YOU Should Visit Finland's OLDEST City - Turku / Åbo

Turku (Åbo in Swedish) is Finland's oldest city, and it was founded in the 1200s - but people have lived in the area around the Aura river for thousands of years. In this video I'm exploring everything there is to see and do in this Finnish city of culture and history.

The places covered in this video include, but are not limited to:

- Turku Castle, a magnificent Medieval castle that just happened to have a Medieval skill-at-arms competition when I was visiting
- Kakola Hill, an old prison that's now turned into a trendy area of Turku with a hotel, a SPA, a brewery and a lot more
- A stroll along the Aura river is a must if you visit Turku - it's one of the most significant rivers in Finland
- The steamboat Ukkapekka will take you out into the Turku archipelago and to nearby Naantali (Nådendal)
- Cafe Qwensel and the Apothecary Museum is well worth a visit if you want to have a coffee in a 19th century setting
- The Turku Food Hall has lots of fantastic foods - including karjalanpiirakka (Karelian pastries)
- Kloster-Mellangatan and the outdoors museum Klosterbacken (Luostarinmäki) has even more old and well-preserved houses to marvel at
- I also visit the Turku Art Hall and the Sibelius Museum, as well as the Turku Cathedral
- Finally, I also pay a visit to a few of the squares of Turku, as well as the...very strange sculpture Posankka

There's a lot to see in Finland's oldest city, and it's a place full of interesting places and history. So I hope you'll have as much fun as I had when exploring Turku.
