National Science Day 2023 celebration at IISER Pune

In 1928, the Indian scientist Sir C. V. Raman discovered a phenomenon known as the Raman Effect. For this remarkable discovery, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1930. This was the first Nobel Prize awarded to an Indian scientist. India commemorates this discovery every year by celebrating February 28 as National Science Day. We at IISER Pune have celebrated National Science Day by conducting various public events. This was an eclectic, whole-day event open to all. We had planned a lecture series starting with 2023’s conferred Padma Bhushan awardee, Prof. Deepak Dhar, a live demonstration of science projects and models, daytime astronomy, a water classroom exhibition, and many more things to explore on the IISER Pune campus!
