Tripura is not typically associated with startups. However, amidst its rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, a new wave of entrepreneurial spirit is emerging. Here are 10 of the most promising startups from Tripura.

Vyonika

In the small town of Manughat, Vyonika is partnering with tribal artisans to build a unique clothing brand. Co-founders Himanshu Gupta and Mahi Chakma started this venture in 2020, using part of their profits to plant trees and support education in Northeast India. Despite selling only 10,000 products and making 12 lakh rupees in FY24, they have big plans, expecting to double their revenue by FY25.

TalkEng and OraRide

From Agartala, TalkEng is revolutionizing English language education. Subhra Deb launched this startup in 2020, inspired by his own struggles with English fluency. TalkEng has over 1.5 lakh students and made 66 lakh rupees in FY24. In addition, Subhra's OraRide is addressing mobility issues in Tripura with a new ride-hailing platform.

7 Oceans

7 Oceans, an arts school focusing on music education, was started by Sumitabha Saha Roy and Dimitrios Rymbai in 2022. Offering a variety of music programs, they help students get gigs and create music videos. Their future plans include expanding to Meghalaya and Uttarakhand.

MedicApp

MedicApp is building an all-in-one healthcare platform, allowing users to order medicine, book consultations, and lab tests. Diptanil Chakraborty and Krishanu Debnath started this venture in 2022, and it has already served over 15,000 customers, generating 25 lakh rupees in FY24. Expansion across Northeast India is next on their agenda.

Apnahath

Jhuma Biswas’s Apnahath, launched in 2019, is a home services platform akin to Urban Company. After initial struggles with punctuality, they are now poised to expand their services across Tripura.

aAHARAN EduSMART

Amit Ghosh and Diptanu Chakraborty’s aAHARAN EduSMART offers high-quality video tutorials in local languages for school students. Since 2018, they have gained over 14,000 class 10 students. Future plans include integrating AI and AR/VR content to enhance learning experiences.

Shomish

Susanta Shome and Pradipta Biswas created Shomish in 2021 to help students prepare for government job exams in local languages. With over 25,000 users, they have also started offline coaching and plan to expand their app to Kenya and Nigeria.

iLogitron

Starting as a software development company, iLogitron, led by cousins Debasish and Abhishek Dhar since 2018, now produces hardware products like the iSync smart home device and the SmartAgri plant watering device. Their eco-friendly bamboo designs set them apart.

SS Bamboowala

SS Bamboowala, founded by Swattik Chakraborty and his mother Ajanta Bhattacharjee in 2019, specializes in bamboo home decor products. Initially a contract manufacturer, they transitioned to direct retail through Amazon during the pandemic.

Opepl Fresh

Opepl Fresh, established in 2018, focuses on selling fresh, chemical-free vegetable and dairy products. They also produce a bio-pesticide called Ovaneem from their farm’s bio waste, promoting organic farming.
