Описание к видео Julia Parsons: World War II Codebreaker tells her story at age 100

Julia Parsons kept the secret of her World War II military service for nearly 50 years. A U.S. Navy WAVE, Julia worked to break the Nazi code used to encrypt German U Boat message traffic. The Enigma machine was considered undecipherable, until Allied teams captured several of these devices being used by the Nazis. Two of them are now in the collection at Carnegie Mellon University, where Julia attended school nearly 80 years ago. Julia reflects on her experiences, while the military community, along with family and friends in the Pittsburgh suburb of Forest Hills celebrate her 100th birthday.
