Fernando Sor Op. 35, No. 22 - Study in bm with Obligato

Описание к видео Fernando Sor Op. 35, No. 22 - Study in bm with Obligato

This piece is from Sor's work titled "Twenty Four exercises, Composed and Carefully Fingered for the Spanish Guitar." Written about 1828 as Opus #35, it was published in two separate volumes (book 1 contained #1 - #12 and book contained #13 - #24.) Sor lived in Paris from 1827 to his death in 1839. Segovia compiled a collection of 20 Sor studies in 1945 that became the backbone for all classical guitar students of the 20th century. He states the 20 were "chosen from the most effective and beautiful ones written by Sor." Study #22 (this is #5 in Segovia's compilation) is probably Sor's most famous melody and is felt by many to invoke feelings similar to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (3/4 pulse, minor key, played sostenuto, extremely expressive.) Since this piece as been heard 1000's of times, I had fun adding an obligato that I play on my fretted Esteve PS75 contrabajo. Hopefully you will find this obligato adds a renewed fascination with this piece.
