Today, in our sports encyclopedia series we will talk about Egg Toss.
The game egg toss originated from the egg-throwing festival that used to be held in the churches at Easter.
The game is a rather easy and straightforward game to play that involves playing catch with eggs.
The objective of the game for each team is to make sure that they are the last team standing with an unbroken egg.
Egg Toss is a team sport in which players are paired in teams of two and the teams compete against each other.
The game must be played with an even number of players to make sure the pairs are properly made.
All players are required to wear something that doesn’t cause obstruction in catching or throwing the eggs.
The game is usually played with raw eggs.
Each team is given one egg and the play begins.
In the beginning, all the teams position themselves by standing an equal distance apart.
One player from each team begins the game by tossing the egg to the other teammate.
If the other teammate catches the egg successfully, they both take a step back and the game continues.
In a situation where the egg is dropped but not broken, it is allowed for the players to pick it up and throw it back.
There is a limit set in each match regarding how many times the egg can be dropped by a team before they are disqualified.
The team is disqualified if the egg breaks on the ground or in someone’s hands
The game is continued until one team is left standing with an unbroken egg. And that team is declared as the winner.
The winning team can also be determined by whichever team is at the farthest distance apart when their egg broke.
