DRAIN PLUG BROKE OFF INSIDE WATER HEATER | HOW TO | EP 0322

Описание к видео DRAIN PLUG BROKE OFF INSIDE WATER HEATER | HOW TO | EP 0322

Our plastic drain plug broke off inside our water heater drain. We purchased these drain plugs off Amazon and they were advertised as being nylon. Nylon handles heat well typically, provided it is real nylon. About three months after purchasing a package of 10 of these drain plugs, and after draining my water heater tank, I went to put in a replacement plug because the one I was using was already worn out. I didn’t think anything of it at the time, but I had only pulled that plug out twice. When I went to my truck to get a replacement, I noticed cracks in two other ones that were brand new and never used. I thought this was odd, and when I inspected them closer, they basically crumbled in my hand. Nylon is more flexible and softer, these things looked like nylon but cracked and broke like old brittle schedule 30 PVC. I found a good cap, put some Teflon tape on it and put in in. After packing up and getting ready to come home from a camping trip I noticed our water heater was leaking. And sure, enough it was the drain plug. After I got our camper home, I went to remove the drain cap and the cap end just broke off in my hand. I have quite a bit of experience in piping etc. and this video will show you how to safely remove a broken cap.
