Описание к видео A single-center psycho-oncology program in Lebanon to improve the outcomes of patients with cancer

Maya Bizri, MD, MPH, Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, OH, and the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon, discusses a single-center psycho-oncology program aimed at addressing the psychiatric needs of patients with cancer. The program revealed that while 25% of adult cancer patients were expected to require psychiatric care, only 17% were being identified, primarily due to a lack of referrals from oncologists. The study highlighted the need for better communication skills training for oncologists to overcome internalized stigma and improve patient outcomes. This interview took place at the 19th Annual Scientific Conference of the Academy for Sickle Cell and Thalassaemia (ASCAT 2024) in London, UK.
