Описание к видео "Thomas Merton, BLM, and White Passivity" | Anne Pearson | TEDxBellarmineU

A student and member of a generation that readily utilizes social media as a source of news, Anne has been immersed in the words of Trappist monk Thomas Merton, who wrote extensively on contemplation, war, and racism, as well as in the messages of local Black Lives Matter protest leaders on Twitter. Parallels between these ingenious thinkers are clear, showing Merton's continued relevance. This talk explores how his solutions have held up over the past six decades, providing an essential perspective in the current fight for racial justice. Anne is majoring in clinical psychology and political science and minoring in criminal justice studies. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, and engaging in bipartisan discussion with industry executives through the National Millennial Community. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
