Went to Dumas Texas to see their sirens and shoot some video. Met with Tommy Brooks, Emergency Managemnt Coordinator for Moore County. He showed us the different methods they use to activate the sirens and gave us a list of locations to see them. And do they have a lot of sirens! This town of about 14,000 people has 17 sirens! The video shows a Sentry and a FS 2001 (that managed to stick on for a while) and lots of stills of some of what they have. No audio after the videos. Mr. Brooks showed us that they have 4 ATI sirens that activate from one control and others that run from another. Some of the ATI's failed to activate. We decided to focus on the Sentry as we haven't heard one in person before. Great siren! And we got a bit to close to the 2001 but was worth it. Hopefully in the not so distant future, we can make it back there for another vid. They test them on the third Friday of the month at 11:00 AM, weather permitting of course. They also turn on the sirens in a small community north of Dumas called Cactus. It was hit pretty hard by a tornado a couple of years ago. So if you travel through Dumas, stop and grab a bite to eat.
