Relationship and connection. This is fundamentally important for our children. We share it all the time on this channel. Particularly as it relates to younger kids.

But it can become more challenging with our older children to stay in that connection. As our children enter into adolescence and the teenage years, they will seek more relationship with their peers, and there is this seemingly natural stretch away from us as they grow into their own life and personality.

I love this from Cathy because it really does empower parents (along with their kids) to foster strong relationships with others who truly love and care about our families.

I still think the opportunity to have adequate exposure to family like aunts, uncles, and cousins, is such a benefit to those extended families that have agreed to stay in close proximity to one another (a rarity these days).

And children can benefit tremendously from other caring adult figures. It allows them to seek the independence from the parents, which is often so important for the child, while still allowing them to get guidance from someone measured with life experience and lessons to offer.

This one is great. Something I hadn't considered but is certainly worthy of consideration!
