Early Snowfall, Robertson, NSW, Australia, Earliest Snow On Record? 7th May 2023.

A very early snowfall at Robertson, NSW, Australia. Roberston is in the Illawarra region, located 700 metres (2500ft) high on the coastal escarpment. It did not snow at sea level at my home just 35-40mins away. The day started cloudy, but sunshine broke through larte morning and temperatures rose to 17C (63F) on the coast, and 10C (50F) at Robertson. At that stage I had written off chances of rain let alone snow. However in the evening a wrap around cloud band associated with a deep low in the Tasman Sea was sling-shotted to the coast and escarpment. Normally this would introduce air too warm for snow at Robertson, but surface winds stayed W/SW, and not off the ocean. This snowfall is the earliest I can recall occurring at Robertson.
