How can an open Innovation Challenge contribute to sustainable development in the North Sea region? What are the ideas of the winning teams and what have they learned since the start of the support program offered by PROWAD Link?

The North Sea Sustainable Innovation Challenge is an initiative of the University of Groningen - Campus Fryslân within the Interreg project PROWAD Link. The challenge called for ideas that contribute to social, economic, environmental and heritage challenges in the North Sea region. Five concepts were selected as winners and were awarded a support programme by PROWAD Link, consisting of workshops, coaching and networking.

In the one-hour webinar, held on 21 September 2022, the North Sea Sustainable Innovation Challenge and the five winning ideas and the progress the winning teams have made together with PROWAD Link.

The Interreg VB project "PROWAD Link: Protect and Prosper: Benefits through linking sustainable growth with nature protection” aims to unlock the potential of natural areas as a driver for jobs and sustainable development in the pilot regions of the Wadden Sea (DK, D, NL), Geiranger Fjord (NO), Wash & North Norfolk Coast (UK). The project is co-funded by and carried out in the framework of the Interreg North Sea Region Programme under the Programme Priority 1 “Thinking Growth”. The programme is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the European Union.
