Lecong Town is located in the northwest of Shunde District, Foshan City, 30 kilometers from Guangzhou. Located at the intersection of National Highway 325, the Dongping Waterway, and the Shunde Waterway, it offers convenient transportation by land and water. Covering an area of ​​78 square kilometers, it has a permanent population of approximately 230,000, including 100,000 registered residents and over 60,000 overseas Chinese living in Hong Kong, Macao, and abroad. It is a renowned hometown of overseas Chinese in Guangdong. The town boasts a distinctive economy, boasting three major specialized markets: furniture, steel, and plastics. The Lecong Furniture Market, the world's largest, covers a total area of ​​3.2 million square meters and houses over 3,450 merchants, earning it the title of "China's Furniture Trade Capital." The steel market boasts an annual trading volume of approximately 20 million tons, making it the largest steel trading hub in China. The plastics market boasts an annual trading volume exceeding 1 million tons, leading South China and earning it the title of "China's Plastics Trade Capital." By 2024, Lecong will have over 80,000 market entities, with over 4,000 registered businesses in Foshan New Town generating revenue exceeding 30 billion yuan. Five projects with investment exceeding 100 million yuan were introduced throughout the year, totaling 4.8 billion yuan. The turnover of restaurants and accommodation businesses above designated size increased by 26.08% and 8.28% year-on-year, respectively. Urban infrastructure is improving, with high-quality educational projects such as the Lecong Primary School affiliated with South China Normal University opening. Foshan Metro Line 3 and the Foshan-Suizhou-Dongguan Intercity Railway are now operational. The Lingnan Ancient Village Demonstration Area and the "Bai Li Fang Hua" Rural Revitalization Belt have achieved remarkable results, simultaneously improving the city's quality and ecology.

In July 2025, an outbreak of chikungunya fever broke out in Lecong Township, Shunde, Foshan, with over 700 reported cases, making it one of the most severely affected villages in Shunde. Because the virus is transmitted by the Aedes mosquito, the Lecong community mobilized to disrupt the transmission chain through home visits to clear stagnant water, disinfect the area, and distribute mosquito repellents.

2025年7月，基孔肯雅热在佛山顺德乐从镇暴发，累计报告病例超700例，成为顺德疫情最严重的村居之一。由于病毒通过伊蚊传播，乐从社区已全面动员，通过入户清积水、消杀、发放驱蚊物资等措施全力阻断传播链。
