PVI Hands DeMatha 1st WCAC Conference loss 74-65 02/16/20

DeMatha-PVI lived up to it’s making again! In the last home game at their Fairfax location, Paul VI did what no other WCAC school could do this year, and that was knocking off #2 Nationally-ranked DeMatha. DeMatha came out the gates strong, taking a 10-2 lead. PVI would respond with a little run of their own as both teams would continue to trade blows. Late in the third period and early fourth quarter, it was "Dug McDaniel" show. Dug went on a tear, scoring 11 straight points and keeping the Panthers afloat. Hunter Dickinson would respond to McDaniel's run with a couple buckets on the inside and a three pointer to beat the third quarter buzzer. PVI up 2, under a minute to play, went to their McDonald's All-American, who would bank in a three to extend the Panthers' lead and seal the game. McDaniel had a team-high 21 points and Hunter Dickinson led the Stags with 17. WCAC playoffs are next weekend and DeMatha and PVI are the top 2 seeds, respectively.
