English translation below. Una distesa di sabbia che si trova in Francia, precisamente a 60 chilometri da Bordeaux, a sud delle secche sabbiose del Bacino di Arcachon. E' un esempio di quanto la natura possa ancora stupire.
Una montagna di sabbia finissima alta più di 110 metri. La duna di Pilat è un luogo imperdibile , molto frequentata durante tutto l’anno e, dunque, la sensazione di avere questo spettacolo tutto per sé e scattare foto senza che i turisti ti coprono la visuale la puoi provare solo se ci arrivi la mattina presto quando l’estate è già andata.
Raggiungere la Dune du Pilat è piuttosto semplice. In molti arrivano dalla vicina Bordeaux. Frequenti treni regionali collegano, in circa 1 ora, la Gare St. Jean di Bordeaux alla cittadina costiera di Arcachon, località balneare famosa per le eccellenti ostriche e per le sue case ben decorate. Dalla stazione di Arcachon parte un bus navetta che porta proprio nei pressi della salita. Io ci sono arrivato così.
Se non si sceglie la gradinata la salita è faticosa e può scoraggiare. Alla fine ci si arriva in cima, anche se con un po’ di fiatone! Farlo a pieni nudi è il massimo perché permette di godere a pieno della piacevole sensazione di questa sabbia finissima che ti accareza le gambe mentre sprofondi. Il panorama è stupendo. Il vento che soffia non da fastidio, attira numerosi appassionati di parapendio e tante famiglie con gli aquiloni. La discesa dalla duna è un vero divertimento!

ENGLISH. The dune of Pilat is an expanse of sand located in France, precisely 60 kilometers from Bordeaux, south of the sandy shoals of the Arcachon Basin. It is an example of how much nature can still amaze us.
A mountain of fine sand higher than 110 meters. The dune of Pilat is an unmissable place and, therefore, very popular throughout the year and the feeling of having this show all to yourself and taking pictures without tourists covering your view can only be experienced if you arrive early in the morning when summer is already gone.
Reaching the Dune du Pilat is quite simple. Many come from nearby Bordeaux. Frequent regional trains connect, in about 1 hour, the Gare St. Jean of Bordeaux to the coastal town of Arcachon, a famous seaside resort famous for its excellent oysters for its well decorated houses. A shuttle bus leaves from Arcachon station and takes you right near the slope. That's how I got there.
If you don't choose the steps, the climb is tiring and can be discouraging. Eventually you get to the top, even if you are out of breath! Doing it completely naked is the best because it allows you to fully enjoy the pleasant sensation of this very fine sand in contact with the skin. The landscape is gorgeous. The wind that blows is not a nuisance, it attracts numerous paragliding enthusiasts and many families with kites. The descent from the dune is real fun.
