A lot of leaders and employees have been in a virtual setting as a result of the pandemic.

Now that we’re in a flexible work environment, we need to be more comfortable leading and collaborating virtually.

Having an executive presence in a virtual world is a huge part of motivating and inspiring your team. But virtual communication is different. What makes it hard is the fact that every corporate culture is different, too.

According to Tom Henschel, executive coach & host of The Look & Sound of Leadership, there is no one way to manage communication in the virtual world. You need to be creative and think like a filmmaker.

One thing in filmmaking that we can apply in virtual communication is lighting. Young actors are taught to find their “light” to allow the audience to hear them better.

We must practice this when we’re communicating virtually as well.
