This is often used as a ball knot for a button on paracord bracelets without a buckle.

The diamond knot is an ornamental knot. It is knot #787 in the Ashley Book of Knots (AboK). It is also known as the sailor’s knife lanyard knot, the marlin spike lanyard knot, the bosun’s whistle knot and the friendship knot.

This version is tied by joining two ends with a carrick bend. The ends are then wrapped around the outside of the loop and up through the center of the knot.

Use/Application

It is often used as an ornamental part of a knife or tool lanyard. It can also be used to make paracord jewelery, as the end knot on a paracord survival bracelet it forms a decorative button. Can be use as part of a key fob or zipper pull.
