Swimming Analysis - Daniel Barry

Описание к видео Swimming Analysis - Daniel Barry

Description:
Welcome back to another swim analysis! In this session, we had the pleasure of working with Daniel, a triathlete who's already comfortable in the water. We're focusing on refining his technique to enhance his swimming efficiency.

Key Focus Points:

1. Posture in the Water:
- We noticed that when Daniel's right hand enters the water past the midline, his left leg pops out to stabilize, causing a hip drift and side-to-side movement.
- The issue with Daniel's lower back and pelvic tilt was discussed on the pool deck. The underwater footage revealed that the shoulder drop is creating a depth issue rather than the pelvic tilt.

2. Hand Entry:
- Daniel's hand entry needs to be less deep to prevent his chest from pulling down during the stroke.
- His right hand enters short and over the midline, while his left hand's timing has improved but still drifts out slightly, creating resistance.

Recommended Drills:

1. One Arm Fingertip Drag:
- This drill helps with hand placement and entry. Ensure the opposite hand remains extended in front and locked against the side of the head.

2. Kick on Side with 3 Stroke Changeover:
- This drill helps improve body position and provides a higher catch phase hold.

3. Dog Paddle with Underwater Recovery:
- This drill focuses on hand entry into the catch phase while maintaining shoulder control and preventing chest drop.

Additional Tips:
- Use flippers for added propulsion and lift during drills.
- A snorkel can be helpful to focus on drills without worrying about breathing.

Daniel did an excellent job during this session, and we look forward to seeing his progress in the coming weeks. If you enjoyed this video or found it helpful, please like and subscribe for more swim analysis and tutorials!
