Chicago Riverwalk to Wolf Point and the disappointing Holiday Inn

Used the Riverwalk rather than the street to get to the Holiday Inn at Wolf Point in Chicago.

Hotel is near the Merchandise Mart, handy for the brown line, although Clark & Lake, a few blocks away goes to the airport.

The hotel shares the building with another company, and floors 15 and above are the hotel rooms and facilities (although floor 14 might have something?)
You take a lift from the ground floor to floor 15, walk across the atrium and take another lift to floor 16 and above.
Reception is on the ground floor (or 1st floor in the US).

Did say I want the breakfast as my diamond amenity at check-in and this was confirmed. I was given a voucher along with my keycard.
Next day, found it wasn't a breakfast voucher but a voucher for 2 free items from the shop. Couldn't be bothered with chasing this up and just went to Starbucks for a coffee and Wholefoods a few blocks away for a bagel.

No menus that I could see for anything food or drink related in the room or around the bar.

Worst thing was my room. Yes, I paid for a city view room and got that, but I'm that somewhere on my corridor was what sounded like machinery for the elevators up to floor 15. Droning noise that was sometimes louder, sometimes quieter, and you could feel the floor vibrating. slightly more noticeable in the bathroom. A bit louder a little down the corridor.
Far worse in the morning with the elevators in constant usage with people leaving and people for conferences arriving.

On my list now along with the Hilton Garden Inn at Hatton Cross, near Heathrow, that I would never stay at again. Not saying someone else would have a better experience there, but for me, no second chances.
Should have booked another night at the hostel I stayed at the night before and saved a good £120!
