Dr. Briana Chen, of Columbia University, discusses her work researching sex differences, stress, and psychiatric disorders, with a focus on sex-specific treatments for depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Dr. Briana K. Chen is a postdoctoral research scientist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and subsequently received her PhD from Columbia University. Her research focuses on investigating the neural substrates underlying stress resilience, with the ultimate goal of developing sex-specific drugs for the treatment and prevention of stress-related psychiatric disorders. She has filed multiple patents and won numerous awards for her research, including a National Research Service Award from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), and was recently listed on Forbes 30 Under 30: Healthcare.
