Today we'll take a walk inside of Shantou's oldest & biggest park, the centrally located & historically important Zhongshan Park aka Sun Yat-sen Park (Chinese: 汕头中山公园).

Constructed in 1926 in memory of Sun Yat-Sen, Zhongshan Park occupies an area of 20.18 hectares (50 acres) with Yujian Lake (玉鉴湖) taking up nearly one third of the total area. In addition to the beautiful lake, lawns, architecture, rock gardens & picturesque greenery, the park is also home to many traditional Chinese bridges. The most famous bridge in the park is the zig-zag 'Bridge of Nine Turnings' (九曲桥) which was an addition built in 1936 at the north end of the lake & interestingly integrates pavilions & terraces on the angular bridge. 广东省汕头市中山公园，位于金平区的月眉河畔，是汕头市历史最悠久、规模最大的综合性公园，同时也是中国“四大人工园林”之一。

中山公园总面积20.18公顷，其中包含玉鉴湖的面积达3.6公顷。公园四面环水，其中汕头的主要河流韩江在公园北面，其他三边是人工河道，公园以3座桥梁和汕头市区连接。

公园四周环水，月眉河环绕园区，中山桥、月眉桥和迎春桥三座桥梁将公园与市区陆地连在一起。园区的玉鉴湖面积近百亩，风光绮丽，名闻海内外。
全园布局完整，中西合璧，动静结合，汇集古今中外造园之特色。

园区沿玉鉴湖西岸为界，划分为东西两片。
东片挖湖堆山，形成龟山、蛇山等五个小岛；九曲桥、碧波桥、展虹桥、红桥、槐荫桥、玉带桥、浣花桥、丁水桥等8座大小造型各异的桥梁。跨水连丘，小桥流水，极富中国古典园林韵味，以游览、休憩功能为主；
西面陆地面积较大，以道路分隔为若干绿化小区，种植观赏类乔灌林及花卉等，是园区活动、娱乐的主要场所。

P.S. Shantou Zhongshan Park also features an amusement park, a swimming pool, a museum, a movie theater & a small zoo which sometimes houses pandas.
