Valle delle sfingi e malghe di Velo Veronese

The itinerary begins with a visit to the modern geopaleontological museum which houses numerous fossil and archaeological finds mainly found in Lessinia.

At the end of the visit, continue to the main town of Camposilvano, to turn right along the dirt road dominated by the curious shape of the particular "mushroom", which welcomes hikers at the entrance to the Valley of the Sphinxes; it is a small valley where there are numerous rock monoliths whose shapes originate from the particular erosion that atmospheric agents have exerted on the calcareous lithologies over thousands of years.

After the "Sfingi" continue behind the buildings of Malga Buse di sotto. Leaving the clearing, go up along the pasture towards the beautiful hut of Malga Buse di Sopra, dominated by a particular stone chimney. A few meters separate us from the ridge of the Sengio Rosso, immediately characterized by the Croce dei Norderi, an element in ammonite red on the side of the route. Once you reach Sengio Rosso you cannot fail to notice the state of decay of the buildings, but at the same time the splendid features of the stone artifacts. From here the road begins to descend and on clear clear days the view opens up to the Apennine chain and the Euganean hills. Before descending to the high districts of Azzarino di Velo you can stop at the Lausen Refuge for a refreshing break; continuing you reach the Battisteri, Al Pezzo and Tecchie districts, then following the CAI path 251 which goes up to the famous Croce del Gal on the Via Cara, an ancient transhumance route that extends from the plain to the Parpari along the ridge.
