Turkish Wedding Vlog 2023 | What is a Turkish wedding like in Germany 🇩🇪

Turkish wedding traditions are a big issue, and lots of invitations are distributed to family and friends. Whether they can afford it or on boundless cost, Turkish people like to celebrate pleasant times. The groom, the bride, and their mothers just invite everybody, all the relatives, neighbors, and friends, because not to do so would be disgraceful. Basically, they give invitations to everybody. So in the end hundreds of people are invited and you never know who is coming and who is not. It's really crazy!! They invite every person they've ever met, literally, hundreds, even a thousand people all gathered together to celebrate.

If you have not joined a Turkish wedding until now, adopt any invitation that any of your Turkish friends may send to you because it is the best way to learn about Turkish wedding traditions. Time is changing, and more and more Turkish people prefer a modern wedding, while some time-bound practices still dare to test the time.

Traditionally, Turkish weddings would last 3 days and 3 nights. Couples from small towns would have the whole community involved in their nuptials, as they'd play instruments for everyone to dance and enjoy the celebrations.

Turkish weddings are happening in two ways, a religious celebration and civil. The religious type of wedding does not require an oath or documents. An imam comes to the home, and just two witnesses need to be available. On the other hand, it is not legally binder. That is why some couples prefer both types of weddings and believe in the religious ceremony as the provision of an engagement. Current modern couples usually just prefer the legal binder civil type of weddings.

One of the Turkish wedding traditions is to take gifts to bride and groom

When you are invited to a wedding in Turkey, you should take a gift with yourself if you are close relatives or close friends. You can gift anything you can afford or wish to gift it. Nowadays, the friends and relatives of the bridal couple ask them whether they have any deficiency and you can buy gifts such as a toaster, kettle, or gift. After the official ceremony ends, the couple says yes to each other and signs the marriage certificate. Red strips are placed on the necks of the bridal couple.

The guests bring gifts such as gold and money, so after the wedding ceremony, all the guests come one by one and pin gold/money to the piece of clothing attached to the outfits of the couple. Then they take pictures with the couple and congratulate them by kissing them on cheeks. It is one of the practical and best Turkish wedding traditions that bring the couple together and support them for their new life and end the problem of loans and to buy important things as husband and wife. By the way, this ceremony takes more than an hour.

Turkish Wedding Reception Traditions

Typically, the bride and groom start the dancing with an opening dance.
It always begins with a typical slow dance and then other couples start to join in.
After the first dance, the real party begins. Loud drums, all kinds of musical instruments, live music and singing, and A LOT of dancing.
Basically, Turkish marriages are based on a lot of folk dance (halay).
The whole night, everybody dances like crazy. I mean, where the hell do these people get their energy from?! HAHAHAHA 😂😂
By the way, the wedding we were at had only Turkish music, but many are more modern and include Western music.
