Despite the gains realized over the last 17 years of UNCRPD, numerous challenges still underpin the actualization of the rights of persons with disabilities in their diversities, particularly when it comes to establishing sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their families.

In Kenya, persons with disabilities are still forced to contend with widespread stigma and stereotype among employers who discriminate against them at every stage of employment- from job listings that weeds out persons with disabilities based on their disabilities and not abilities, to unwillingness to provide reasonable accommodation- all these, coupled with other social inequalities have further impoverished and limited the abilities of economic development among persons with disabilities.

This animated video therefore explores the right of persons with disabilities as stipulated in Article 27 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Article, lays down the right of persons with disabilities to work on an equal basis with others. This includes, the right to gain a living by work freely chosen or accepted in a labour market and work environment that is open, inclusive and accessible to persons with disabilities.
