Backgammon Galaxy ‘Earth’ Board *Unboxing*

My unboxing and review of a brand new Backgammon Galaxy Earth board, produced by FMGammon at their workshop in Istanbul, Turkey. This is a solid wood board made of pure beechwood. It is a compact 'travel' board, significantly smaller than typical 'tournament-size' boards, including those I have previously reviewed in my prior videos.

This board came with the muted green 'Earth' playing surfaces, as well as the muted grey 'Moon' inserts. Beautiful marbled green and white checkers match the Earth inserts, while the Moon surface is matched with lovely black and white marbled checkers. The corresponding white checkers are not plain, but have a subtle marbling in them also.

Along with the board comes a wooden box that closes with magnets, like the board itself. It fits perfectly within the closed board. This box contains two sets of checkers, the dice cups and the doubling cube. For travel purposes, in lieu of the wooden box, one can put the checkers, cups and cube into the accompanying travel satchel, which cuts down on weight significantly.

The dimensions of the board are much narrower than typical tournament boards, but it feels like a tournament-size board regardless. It has the beautiful tones I've come to expect from solid wood boards from FMGammon, especially when the checkers and dice make contact with the interior frame.

This board retails for $900 and is available at the online Backgammon Galaxy Shop, with shipping included worldwide. It is a lovely board overall, and I look forward to using it when I travel for backgammon tournament play. My first trip will be to the 2021 Wild West Shootout in Denver Colorado, in September 2021.
