MULAKU MAA-ALA (M. Mulah)

Описание к видео MULAKU MAA-ALA (M. Mulah)

In this video, we follow Habeeba and Latheef, two women from M. Mulah island, as they venture into the forest to harvest taro, known locally as "Maa Ala," which is identifiable by the flower it produces. This starchy tuber is a staple in Maldivian cuisine in the olden days and is often boiled, mashed, and eaten along with rice.
After collecting the taro, they bring it to the kitchen to prepare a traditional meal, serving it alongside rice and a variety of savoury dishes. Habeeba and Latheefa explains the process in detail as they prepare all ingredients for the final dish.
