wood turning two cockerels

This is my cockerel turning video, turns out to be two. I start with some mahogany scraps that I glue together. After turning egg shapes for the body I make a comb and tail for each cockerel . I cut some rough shapes out on the bandsaw then bevel the edges on the sanding disc. I fit some dowels and scorch them with a blow torch. This does two things firstly it softens and takes off the sharp edges and secondly it brings out the grain. I cover the comb and tail with copper leaf and use bb's for eyes. Lastly I create a beak from some dowel and cut a v in each one to have the appearance of crowing.
