UPDATE: In 2013, KLTV's Milton Brown interviewed George Matheson after fifteen years of public Service for Kirklees Council.

We hope this post shines a light on minority ethnic public sector workers who live in their community and the expectations placed on them if they live within a community which regularly faces socio-economic disadvantages

More importantly, we hope this interview provides a catalyst for open and honest dialogue with the Kirklees Council Cabinet and its African descent, Asian and Minority Ethnic Workers.

With a look back at this interview, we hope to provide provides an instrument to measure the progress and/or regress over seven years in Kirklees. As well as a deeper understanding of the relationship with Kirklees Council, its Ethnic Minority Staff and the communities they represent and serve in the borough of Kirklees.

In this open and honest interview, Milton Brown talks to George Matheson about his life and career as he prepares to leave Kirklees Council after 15 years of service to the public. George reflects on some of the personal and professional challenges of working as a public servant whilst also being part of the local community. He describes how his Christian faith has impacted his life and work along with his hopes for the future.

A heartfelt and sincere interview provides a valuable insight into the relationship between faith, community and service.
