One Life to Live 2/21/1991

Hunter promises Megan he is a great roommate, but Megan says she didn’t agree to have him move in, so he needs to go. However, when Jake knocks on the door, Megan suddenly changes her tune and tells Jake that Hunter is moving in. Clint and Jake can’t figure out why the houseboat lead didn’t pay off. Clint calls Troy to ask for help, but says he wants this to stay quiet. Troy asks Sheila if she’s heard from Niki at all. He says Clint is clearly hiding something, but he isn’t sure what. Jake is none too thrilled to hear this news. When Megan storms out, Hunter and Jake argue, with Hunter pointing out that he’s keeping up his end of their agreement, but Jake isn’t.

Niki says she doesn’t strip for anybody, but Carlo says he was hoping she would try on the gift he got her–a dress to wear to the party. Niki is enthused by the gaudy outfit Carlo picked out, but she is still reluctant to change in front of Carlo. Still, when Carlo says she must if she wants to try on the dress, Niki starts to unbutton her blouse. Carlo tells her to stop, that it was merely a test to ensure she was really Niki. Carlo asks Niki if she can keep a secret and she says she can. He shows her a gun, and she assures him she knows how to use it. He is about to tell Niki the favor he wants her to do for him when he hears a noise from outside. Carlo goes to the window and sees that Clint is there. Niki says he must have noticed she was missing and gone looking for her. Carlo says she has to go back to Llanfair, but he’ll contact her tomorrow. Niki goes down to the street and surreptitiously tells Clint to play along because Carlo is watching. She loudly tells him to leave her alone and says she’s going to a bar. Upstairs, Carlo tells Armstrong he’s 90% sure she’s really Niki Smith, but he can’t be certain. Back at Llanfair, Viki recounts her conversation with Carlo. Viki is convinced Carlo means for her to shoot someone. Clint says they need to end this now and go to the police first thing tomorrow. Meanwhile, in his limousine, Carlo activates one of the bugs he planted on Niki. Luckily for Viki, she is taunting Clint at that moment in her Niki Smith persona, and nothing Carlo hears gives her away. Carlo turns off the listening device and is reassured that Viki is, in fact, Niki Smith. He believes the Buchanans will finally pay for Johnny’s death.
