HEROIC Ragnaros (10-man) - Arcane Mage PoV - HD

This is our first kill of HEROIC Ragnaros post-nerf (10-man) as a guild.

Guild: The Machine of Sylvanas-EU (Alliance).

Kill date: 11th of October, 2011.

PoV: Zumzar - Arcane Mage.

This fight is a lot of fun, but damn this took a long time to kill, and I wasn't even there the first three weeks of progresss, due to starting at University.

I'll split my role description into 4 phases and two transitions:

Phase 1: Nuke the shit out of Ragnaros, just like everybody else. I was NOT on Trap duty.

1st Transition: Take care of the add furthest away from the hammer, and make sure it gets below 50% asap, so it takes a long time for it to get to the hammer. It doesn't really matter much in the 1st transition, but I did it nevertheless.

Phase 2: In this phase, I received a BoP (Blessing of Protection) from our two Paladins on the 1st and 3rd set of seeds. This results in me not getting a seed, and I can therefore Blink in fast to AoE. On the 2nd set of seeds, I choose to stand out of the group, so I can still Blink in and AoE. This means my add will come in late, and then we can just finish it off afterwards.

2nd Transition: In this transition, like the 1st transition, my role is to take care of the add furthest away from the Hammer, and slow it asap. This is very important, since we want to utilize all the time in this transition to dps down the Scions. In this phase, my rotation is a bit more conservative than usual, but this is to ensure maximum amount of mana for P3.

Phase 3: This is a DPS race. Our goal was to only get 1 Meteor, and this requires pretty good DPS, hence why I saved my mana in the transition. And yes, for all you haters out there - I did get 1 tick of Engulfing in this phase.

Phase 4: On ALL our previous attempts, we had our Hunter taking care of Dreadflame, but since we were consistently wiping to Dreadflame being too overwhelming, we tried switching me onto Dreadflame duty. It worked out pretty well, since we killed him on the second try, after putting me on Dreadflames. Therefore, I might be handling Dreadflames horribly, but it is merely since I have no idea what I'm doing, due to lack of experience. So please don't use my Dreadflame handling as a reference on how to do it :)

Cooldown usage: My cooldown usage for P1-Start of P4 was the same every time, and I really think I worked out a nice way to use my cooldowns, and that's essentially all you need to worry about as a Mage. I hope the video shows my CD usage sufficiently, otherwise don't hesistate to ask. This point is also backed up by the fact that I was leading meters heading into P4.
