The final Modified Race of the 2023 season at Bowman Gray Stadium came down to a battle of survival between Brandon Ward and Tim Brown as everyone else in the field treated the race like their own personal demolition derby.

Ward held on to win the title over Brown, and was ahead of Brown on the track when Brown's move to get a little closer to Ward came at the expense of sending Junior Snow for a spin but under the ensuing caution, Snow got the last laugh, driving headlong into the rear wheel of Brown's car, rendering it unable to continue, ending Brown's bid for the championship.

Ward's closest call with calamity came when Lee Jeffreys got loose off of turn 2 and Ward and Jeffreys made contact and Jeffreys hit the wall. Jeffreys came around and bumped the Ward machine to express some displeasure.

Among the other cautions in this race included Dan Speeney jumping the backstretch wall, Chris Fleming sitting on top of Dan Speeney's 10 car during a front stretch pile up, Dan Speeney hittling James Civali knocking his own radiator off and several other spins and wall slaps.

Oh yeah, Burt Myers won the race, leading most of the laps after starting 2nd to Lee Jeffreys.
