Over recent years I’ve seen plenty of broadcasters type up this similar message… screen-shot it… and post on social media

I’m just going to read the statement I’ve prepared here, because I want to get this right, and make sure it’s all clear as possible.

What I’m about to share is personal, it’s professional, it’s emotional. But it’s important you see it, and hear it straight from me, like you always have.

I’m heartbroken to tell you that my time at NBC sports is soon coming to an end. As of right now… when the a’s play their final game wearing Oakland on the jerseys this September 29th, it will also be my final show, after thousands at the network, since 2009.

To satisfy your instant curiosities…. nothing “happened”.

But in the same breath, I really don’t have the answers to your likely questions.

This news is obviously coming out NOW… down the final stretch of a very difficult baseball season. It was already going to be hard enough seeing the end of the A’s in Oakland, believe me.

But I think what hits even harder… is how much I’ll miss my other main role covering the San Jose Sharks for NBC Sports. To much sadness, and frustration… That is also going away, effective immediately.

After almost 16 years in this job… as you can probably imagine, there’s a lot of ways to feel about this departure.

I met my wife in that office.
I was mid-baseball game there, when fatherhood arrived 2 weeks early in 2017.
I’ve spent more than 1/3 of my life showing up to those San Francisco studios on nights, weekends & holidays.
And so it became part of me. A part that is now coming to a sudden end.

I’ll take away a lot of things.
But the main thing is pride.
Proud of the work that was done.
Proud of the connections that were made.
Proud to have grown because of so many great teammates.

And let me elaborate on that for a second…
If I tried to start the list of names; between co-workers, athletes, viewers, fans, and groups… all the people who have shown support, given me a chance, or helped along the way… we’d never be done with this video.

A lot of you out there know exactly who you are, and how much I’ve appreciated everything. past, present & future.

Since I’m doing this on YouTube, I also want to show appreciation to everyone who subscribes to this channel. I’m so fortunate to have a platform here… and no matter what else happens… I don’t anticipate this space going away or changing greatly, anytime soon.

As I consider what’s next for me, and my family, I’ll be honest about priorities.
It’s my plan to stay centered in the sports media world.
It’s my desire to continue calling the Bay Area home.
However… I’m also a person of many interests, and it will be interesting to see how wide the horizon actually is… and what kinds of chances come my way. I am extremely motivated to find what’s next, and then lean in to it…. Just like I did this last 16 years at NBC.

Athletes always talk about “leaving it all on the field”.
And that’s exactly how I can proudly feel… as the clock runs down on me, in this current month. I did my best to service two particular fanbases I loved in recent years.

I worked my butt off to earn those roles. And to stay in those roles.

And now… This chapter is over.
But… The story is not.
I’ll hope to bring you better news sooner than later.

Thank you,
Brodie
