When it's your first time in a studio, and you only get 12 bars

Описание к видео When it's your first time in a studio, and you only get 12 bars

This is one of Milt Jackson's first ever recorded solos, made with Dinah Washington in 1945. The song is called "No Voot, No Boot".

It's a 12 bar blues in Eb.

In the rhythm section you hear:

Charlies Mingus - Bass
Drums - Lee Young
Piano - Wilbert Baranco.

This was first released in 1946, although it was recorded in 1945. It marked the beginning of a long and amazing career for Vibraphonist Milt Jackson, who was the first vibraphonist to master the bebop language of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie on the vibes. He also innovated by using large, softer mallets and slowing down the motor on the vibes to get a more vocal-like quality out of the instrument.
