Описание к видео Identity vs. Role Confusion

Here is a compilation of teenage movie scenes (credit to MovieClips) that we, Kaelie, Maya, and Natalie, felt represent the Identity vs. Role Confusion stage of Erikson’s theory. We hope this helps you to understand this stage!

~~

Identity Versus Role Confusion is the fifth psychological stage of development, and is exhibited by teenagers as they question who they are. It begins during adolescence (ages 12-18) as one searches for the identity they will occupy as an adult. To accomplish this, they become more independent and less reliant on parental figures.

Failure to establish a sense of identity can lead to role confusion, or an identity crisis. Pressure to conform to a certain identity can cause rebellious attitudes and emotional outbursts, also known as negative attitudes.
