Recipe & Ingredients

1/2 kg Sela Rice
1/2 kg Gurr (Jaggery)
250 gram ghee
8-10 cloves
4-5 Black Cardamom Seeds
1 TSP Fennel seeds
2 TBSP Almonds
2 TBSP Raisins
2 TBSP Coconut slices

Soak 1/2 kg sela rice for 1/2 hour in water. After that drain the water and boil rice until they are fully cooked. During boil add 8-10 cloves, 4-5 Black Cardamom Seeds & 1 TSP Fennel seeds.

In a deep pan add 1 cup of water and add 1/2 kg gurr (jaggery) into it. Boil gurr until it completely melts.

After that in a separate pan add 250 gram ghee and cook for 2-3 minutes. Then add 2 TBSP raisins and 2 TBSP coconut slices into hot ghee. Cook for another 2 minutes.

Then sieve the melted gurr into hot ghee and let it boil for couple of minutes.

After that add boiled rice into the gurr mixture and add 2 TBSP Almonds in it and boil until 75% of water evaporates. When only 25% liquid is left, we will let it sit on Dum for 15 minutes.

After Dum your Gurr Walay Rice are available to be served. Make it more special by topping dry fruits onto it.
