I presented to you, my favorite couple on Hwarang. Please welcome my "Romeo and Juliet" (except without death) from Silla Kingdom, yup, they are Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon. Why? Because Soo Yeon is Soo Ho's younger sister and their families hate each other, their father were on different sides, but they still managed to fall deeply in love. Ah, not to mention that Ban Ryu and Soo Hoo also known as enemy.

Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon are the typical "Romeo and Juliet" scheme with a spunky Juliet and smitten Romeo. In what can be described as "Romeo and Juliet" esque romance (except withouth death), the love that flourishes between Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon develops into something that is sweet enough to make you squeal.

Well, Hwarang is one of the few dramas where I really like the supporting characters. Even they didn't have much screen time compared to the leads, the writers described them well and the actors left a marking impression.

I might be the only one but I'm more interested in Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon storyline (especially Ban Ryu). I absolutely love the Ban Ryu & Soo Yeon ship. Honestly they are just so cute, way better than the messy love triangle between The King/Ahro/Sun Woo.

The scary Ban Ryu turned into a shy damsel when Soo Yeon is around. The boy is shy in front of his crush, which is too adorable. He acted so tough in the beginning, but he was so soft and shy in front of Soo Yeon. The writer should have been given MORE of Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon's love story instead of the STUPID LOVE TRIANGLE.

I am re-watching Hwarang for those little precious Ban Ryu/Soo Yeon moments. Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon's moment loveline was one of the BEST PART of Hwarang. I really can't seem to get enough of his lovely scenes with Soo Yeon and his bromance with Soo Ho.

I was so much more interested and love Ban Ryu and Soo Yeon's loveline, and if the writer insist on romance, these two lovebirds that actually save the story, in my opinion. Soo Ho's sister is way more interesting and likeable than Aro. Aro's character is so flat. Her constant frowning makes me dislike her character. I like Soo Yeon's character more and wish that this drama is about her and Ban Ryu.

The actor (Do Ji Han) is also doing a really great job that I wish Ban Ryu has more screentime as he is the most interesting character in the drama. I admired Do Ji Han's acting when his expression moved from furious to shock to shy/embarrased in front of Soo Yeon. That guy really has talent. Hope they can meet again in other drama in the near future 🙏
