Описание к видео Who Was Japanese Artist Tsukioka Yoshitoshi?

Yoshitoshi has been called the "the last great ukiyo-e artist". His imaginative style, mastery of the the human form, and ability to render his images with emotion and power, make him one of the most influential and popular woodblock print artists. He created over 10,000 images in his lifetime. In this video we scratch the surface by reviewing his most well-known and iconic prints and print series. We'll look at his ghosts, samurai, geisha, newspaper prints, and of course his series, "100 Aspects of the Moon". Along the way we'll learn about his life and battles with mental illness. This is the first in a series of videos we will create about ukiyo-e artists and their work. You can find a selection of original Yoshitoshi prints at miegallery.com. #japaneseart #woodblockprint #yoshitoshi #ghosts #yokai #ukiyoe #artist
